About Kira Lorne and Black Orchid Press

II am an independent author and founder of Black Orchid Press, focused on relationship-driven fiction that explores vulnerability, agency, and emotional realism.

Earlier in my career, I worked in a media environment where storytelling and intimacy were central themes. That experience shaped how I think about audience connection, ethical representation, and the responsibility that comes with writing about relationships.

Today, I bring that foundation into contemporary fiction that balances emotional depth with consent-forward storytelling. My work spans redemption arcs, complicated love stories, and character-driven narratives rooted in flawed but deeply human protagonists.

Beyond writing, I have built and managed the full publishing ecosystem behind my books — formatting, distribution strategy, metadata optimization, print production, website development, and cross-platform marketing. What began as a creative hobby has evolved into a small independent publishing operation focused on sustainable growth.

I’m not interested in shock for its own sake. I care about intimacy that’s earned, characters who surprise themselves, and moments that feel a little too real to be comfortable. My stories are known for their softness and their sharpness—sometimes both at once.

I’m also the primary writing voice behind Black Orchid Press, an independent imprint that supports multiple authors. While I do most of the typing, I don’t do everything alone. Beth handles the majority of book editing, and Maury and I trade off cover art duties depending on the project. It’s a small, collaborative operation built on trust, taste, and a shared belief in emotionally honest work.

At the end of the day, I write because I love it—and because there’s something powerful about stories that let people feel seen in places they don’t always talk about out loud.

Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
